BR British Railways Steam Locomotive Class J72 68726 at Easingwold in 1957
The delightfully bucolic Easingwold Light Railway just north of York was a mere two miles long and attracted many photographers to capture its quaint charms. On 2nd June 1957 the Branch Line Society's 'Yorkshireman' railtour visited behind ex-NER Worsdell 'J72' No. 68726. Driver George Paragreen with 40 years service on the ELR, chats amiably with BLS passengers at Easingwold Station. 68726 was built by Armstrong Whitworth in Apr. 1922 as NER No. 2319 and was withdrawn in June 1961. The ELR closed completely in December 1957.
