GNR Great Northern Railway Steam Locomotive Class 708 at Unknown in 1900s
Stirling 2-4-0 No 708 is seen at an unknown location in the early 1900s. There were 139 engines of this wheel arrangement built for the GNR in the period 1867-95, all with 6’6” coupled wheels. No 708 was released to traffic in January 1884 (built by Kitson & Co) and withdrawn in November 1913. It was never converted to the Ivatt E1 Class as were many other Stirling 2-4-0s.
